As many of you may have experienced, I don't write one-line or pre-written replies to people who contact me, which would be very hard anyway given the sheer breadth of subject matter people want to talk to me about. However, there are a few obvious things that people want to know about and regularly ask, or that I regularly seem to tell people, so I'll put some stock replies here.

Then in June 2001 I was at a turning point career-wise, changing firm after a long time in the same job. I suddenly felt the need to get the CP part of my life back on track and have some fun again ! I've always had interests in computer programming, and it seemed a good time to teach myself HTML and see whether I could actually build a web-page. Using the template of a friend's site, I built the first very basic version of my homepage which was really just a few pages around a central picture gallery page (still almost unchanged) that was intended as a sort of glorified web "small ad" for me ! In a supreme irony, though, I almost immediately found that the demands of the site and my change of job led to even less time to meet all my new contacts . . .
So it was all a big experiment, to see whether I could build a site in the first place, and then (far more difficult) to see whether I could build something that other people would be interested in viewing. My only guide was the very subjective idea of the sort of site that I'd like to surf, so I've just gone on adding things that interest me, using stuff that I find freely available or that is sent to me. I suppose it's a sort of "objets trouvée" art ! I really have taught myself all the way, and it's been a great learning experience.
What's been amazing is the enormous positive feedback that I've received, from so many different
people of all ages from all round the world, so I guess the experiment has been a success !
From the mail I have received I have lots of direct evidence that it is not just a site for entertainment, somewhere people can find a good selection of hot CP writing, pictures, art and links to other useful sites (although I hope that it is that too !), but that it's an important focus for so many guys (and gals), young and old, trying to come to terms with their spanking interests, providing information, support, reassurance, provocative thought and comment . . .
I think of it and other similar sites as beacons in a sea of ignorance, misinformation and fear, trying to help make sense of the taboos that even our modern societies cannot adequately discuss, and I'm so grateful that the 'Net makes it possible for these critical resources to exist. I only wish such a site had been possible and available when I was growing up - I get many older people mailing to comment the same and younger guys thankful that it is. I sincerely feel that I'm doing something extremely valuable.
I also enjoy writing and design and tinkering with websites ! Then there's the range of mail I get from all over the world, from some of the smartest and most interesting people on the planet, that it really is a great pleasure to read and reply to. There's nothing more exciting in my day than switching my machine on and seeing whether some of my wonderful new friends have written to me !
Apart from all that I still don't know quite why I do it, but it's completely taken over my life.
As an experiment, I once tried searching for my site without using the keywords "ianboy" or "spanking" - I gave up after the first couple of hundred listings. I'm fairly sure that no-one who knows me but doesn't either share my interests or know my "secret identity" (eg. my family !) is likely to stumble across the site by accident . . . One of my (older) sisters and my (younger) brother are well aware of the site, though - we're very close and open about things so I gave them the URL a few months back and they have both been very cool and complimentary about it.
It's not as if I'm that pretty, anyway. I'm just another guy. It's an honesty thing, I guess.
There may be more photos of me from my sordid past for you all to enjoy soon . . .
There's nothing intrinsically wrong with websites protected by AVS systems, except that they have
proliferated ridiculously to a point where Sod's Law says that the site you really want to
see only accepts the one AVS you haven't got ! That's why I virtually never link AVS-protected
sites, I don't visit them myself and I never use material from them unless I've found it on a free
site. This isn't about restricting site visits from under-age surfers, either, as the AVS owners
often claim, but purely about making money from their site. I don't have a problem with that, but
I'd rather people voluntarily felt moved to contribute, rather than being forced to.

YES !! I've just added a PayPal donation option. Currently my hosting fees are not excessive, but to grow the site much more, as I want to do, will take a great deal of time to organise. I have so much that I want to eventually add to the site ! I want to make it the best on the web if I can, so contributions would always be gratefully received, towards hosting fees and to offset the significant amount of time it actually takes to research and build the pages (that is lost to my self-employed work).
However, PayPal is not the most reliable option at the moment and is a law unto itself, as many very unfortunate people have found to their cost . . . It's still almost the only game in town right now, though, so I've bitten the bullet and joined. Find out more at my PayPal donations page.
If you really want to help, please offer me a job !!! I'm a highly presentable, intelligent,
loyal, honest person with extremely good communication, numeracy, design, layout, computer and web
skills (as well as an almost obsessive attention to detail) that would be a good asset to most IT
or any other companies. Unfortunately I'm handicapped in pursuing careers that could utilise these
skills by many years of self-employment in unrelated fields. I'm open to all interesting job offers
near London !
However, material about punishment of boys, whether by men or women, is slightly more problematical. This material is relevant to my site because all men were once boys, and this either did happen to us at that age, at school or within our families or with friends, we saw it happen or we may fantasise that it did. Whatever people's personal opinions on the rights or wrongs of punishing children, it is (or was) a fact of life for most of us, that the vast majority retain an adult curiosity about, whether acknowledged sexually or not. On this site, or linked from it, you WILL find stories and art on this subject, that discuss the realities or represent fantasies of teens or minors being disciplined, by dads and moms, teachers and servicepeople, and you MAY find real photos and videoclips (from film/TV) that show or appear to show such punishment taking place.
I'm not going to debate with people whether this material is acceptable or not. My views are stated clearly in the Justifying Alfie discussion I have had elsewhere. I do not believe that this material promotes child abuse, as the responsibility for that ONLY rests with those whose personal moral code is so warped that they actually commit abuse, NOT with me. In any case, there is no question of the legality of this material in the case of art and fiction, and the issue of mainstream film and TV clips that have been in the public domain for many years should be pretty clear.
There is a question over exactly at what point a photo of a child being disciplined becomes "child pornography". It is a somewhat grey area legally, hence for instance Alfie's wish to remain anonymous, not out of fear but merely prudent caution. In general, pictures showing child genitalia seem to be unacceptable whereas ones merely showing bare bottoms, however young, seem OK. This is something I am planning to examine more thoroughly in the future on a dedicated site page. Pornography/obscenity, of course, is very much in the eye of the beholder, or of the particular law enforcement official . . .
This has been borne out by thorough legal inspection of Alfie's material by at least two of the ISPs on whom he has been previously been hosted, who would have deleted his site immediately if they had had any concerns - they did not. What they found unacceptable was the sheer popularity of his site, which was affecting their ability to provide a reliable service to other users ! This suggests that there are a great many people out there extremely interested in this subject matter. I am happy to leave the publication of these photos en masse to Alfie and others, though.
Finally, as far as I am concerned, I do not believe that the corporal punishment of children (by
adults) is in any way the same thing as having sex with them. I deplore the latter and, legal issues
notwithstanding, you will not find ANY material on or knowingly linked directly from this site which
I personally believe suggests that inter-generational sex, which is abuse, is acceptable.
While I have noted above my feelings about sexual activity between adults and children, what children do amongst themselves privately is another matter ! There are many out there having fun of all sorts, including spanking games, with friends their own age. The level of interest in this subject amongst the young, even in this time when the idea of CP is outmoded and unacceptable in modern parenting in most places in the world, is truly astonishing !
I know from the occasional mail I get that under-age surfers are visiting my site. While I don't encourage it, I am very happy that they are getting good information with a positive viewpoint emphasising the fun aspects of adult play, rather than an anti-fun message or the serious lack of information on this subject they will receive from school sex education classes and wider society. I would recommend that they take the time to visit the most amazing website I found recently, All About Sex, which is an outspokenly frank resource suitable for and aimed at both parents and children/teens, dispelling many myths and lies about sex while treating younger viewers with great respect.
For those unfortunate parents who are so frightened of their children's sexuality and the real world
that they cannot trust their children not to look for things that they really need or want to
know about, I have
It's hard to estimate the total site bandwidth because of the way my files are spread over different
servers, but my HTML pages alone and the picture thumbnails on them are now drawing around 8Gb of
bandwidth a month. I believe that the full images are drawing the same amount again on top.
Following some recent fortuitous upgrades at both my ISP and hosting company, I am no longer reaching
the practical limits of my current server arrangements, which are restricted by bandwidth rather than
storage. This means that the long-promised new galleries and updates are on the way shortly !
If you are seeing white pages where you used to see purple ones, your browser is not capable of reading webpages written in CSS-formatted HTML. I was happy enough from checking what browsers you all use in my site stats that the VAST majority of viewers should be able to appreciate this, so that's why I made a switch now, to make things easier in the future. However, you're not losing any content, but merely the lovely quality of my careful design !
As I argue in the entry below, I do STRONGLY recommend that you upgrade to the latest version of
Netscape, Internet Explorer, Opera or whatever other software you use if you are having this problem,
even if this means being prepared to upgrade your computer a bit. Newer versions of these browsers
are not just more widely compatible with all current web standards, but are critically more secure
than the older versions as they have been updated with all necessary security patches.
I have been interested in trying to make this site as accessible as possible for all, no matter what the browser flavour. One of the side-effects of working in pure HTML has been that I haven't had an incentive to try browser-specific special effects, fancy Java stuff or dubious Frontpage effects, just concentrating on quality of content. For more info on these issues, check out the 'Viewable With Any Browser' Campaign.
However, the reality of the 'Net is that most sites nowadays are not just text, but offer a rich multimedia experience. Without a modern browser that can support at least a significant subset of the latest standards (particularly HTML 4.0/CSS) you are really going to miss out, not just on my site but everywhere else. I do STRONGLY recommend that you upgrade to the latest version of Netscape, Opera or Internet Explorer, even if this means being prepared to upgrade your computer a bit. This will also improve your security as older bugs and vulnerabilities will have been plugged or patched. Remember that the simplest, cheapest and most effective all-round upgrade you can make is to add lots more memory to your machine ! It's not that hard to Do-It-Yourself, either . . .
There are people out there with weird and wonderful browsing set-ups - I was only recently contacted by a New Zealand guy who regretted that he'd never been able to see any of my pages because he had no computer and was using a real antique set-top box gizmo called a "Surfboard". There's not much I can do about that (although I emailed him my pages so he could see them !).
However, if you have problems seeing video files you've downloaded or hearing any of the music
files, either the ones I've linked or those I've embedded in a couple of pages, that means you
have a problem with your operating system multimedia support or other added software that is
unrelated to the way my pages are written. I can't help with that, so please don't write to me
with your computer problems ! Find someone to repair your computer locally !!
First, follow this link which should take you to a Real.com "File Not Found" page. On the right of this there are links to "Previous Versions", the top one of which is the link you want, "Real Player 8 Basic". Clicking this, however, takes you to the page for "Real Player 8 PLUS" - even at this stage they are trying to get you to download a paid-for version ! However, there is a very small link on the bottom left of this page: "RealPlayer 8 Basic - is our free player". This will finally take you to a form where you can register and download the free player for most current operating systems.
I have been told that their new Real Player One will revert happily to free status once the trial period is over, but I found that it nagged endlessly so I'd removed it long before then. I also just wanted a simple player for Real format files, not a new web-browser that was determined to make itself the total centre of my web media existence whether I liked it or not !! YMMV . . .
Please note that by default on installation Real products will "grab" for themselves
any file formats they support, even if these have been linked previously with better native playback
software (such as Windows Media Player for .AVI and .MPG files). Not only that, but if these file
associations are subsequently changed, either manually or by installing/re-installing new media player
software, they will be silently set back without asking. This has caused all sorts of unexpected and
seemingly untraceable problems for friends of mine ! It is mentioned in the installation
information but is easily misunderstood or missed. In my experience, it is best to allow Real Player
to ONLY play its own .RM and .RAM files - this default behaviour and file associations link can
be altered easily in the "Upgrade" section of the Real Player user Preferences dialog.
Just be aware that I am extremely busy with a job that requires long hours, and the site.
When I write properly to people it takes time, as I write individual replies without using
I should also say that I'm really looking to build relationships, or even a single Relationship,
rather than just meeting people for
My priority over the next few months will remain to try and keep the site updated for the majority
of you, rather than spending the very little time I have free in "action" with a few.
I'm very sorry if that's a disappointment to some. Hopefully this situation will ease eventually,
and I'm sure that you'll all find the coming site updates worth waiting for.
In addition, I'd like to remind you all that I keep up this site as an unpaid hobby, that costs me money so you have free access, and outside the work I put into it I have a real life that generally, and quite rightly, takes priority. Hence an immediate response to every email is simply not always possible. I DO make a serious effort to try to reply to EVERYONE, though.
Having said all that, the only messages I really ignore are from those who want to make CP contact but don't send even limited info about themselves in an opening mail. I get EXTREMELY pissed off sometimes that my entire life history and almost everything about me except my shoe size and bank PIN numbers are clearly on the site for people to see, yet some people still ask dumb questions like "What country are you in ?" (proving they just can't be bothered to read my profile) or for some reason don't have the basic courtesy to mention even their age or where they are from. I really don't think it should be necessary for me to have to ask for this info, or for a photo if it's available, given how incredibly generous I've been with my own details.
If you've sent me a dumb or non-detailed contact email, therefore, please don't be surprised if
you get a dumb reply or just none at all.
If you have received a legitimate email from me, there may have been something attached (a file apparently called S/MIME .p7m) that your email client might be unable to read, and your anti-virus software might have treated this as a possible virus. This is in fact merely a digital signature on my mail, which is completely harmless. See the following section on encryption for more information. I now no longer send signed mail routinely, so this is unlikely to be the case.
If you have received a virus in mail (or a strangely blank message) that appears to be from me, the
only explanation is that someone else who has stored my email address on their computer has been
infected, probably by a new variant of the Klez email virus. As it propagates itself, this conceals
the infected sender's identity by inserting any addresses it can find, in address books etc., in the
mail's "From" field. You can discover more about this particular trojan virus at
Symantec's virus encyclopedia entry for Klez. One way
of confirming that this has happened is that my mail identity for the email address
ianboy.com
Unfortunately, because of the way the Klez trojan forges the mail headers and pretends to be from
someone else in this way, you are very unlikely to be able to trace who the infected person was who
actually sent you the mail. Be assured, though, it wasn't me.
The use of a freeware encryption product like Pretty Good Privacy is in general a good idea, especially considering the amount of government snooping that we know goes on. How paranoid you are about the email you write and who may legitimately be able to read it (anyone at your ISP with access to your mail server for one thing) is really up to you. I do and discuss NOTHING illegal, not being involved with organised crime or drugs myself, so I'm not too worried at the moment and don't feel a desperate need to draw attention to myself by starting to encrypt mail ! Unfortunately, PGP does not support the latest versions of Windows at all, so is of little use now to the majority of Internet users.
However, for those who care about this sort of thing, I got an X.509 personal security certificate from
Thawte with a nice new 1024 bit RSA Public/Private Key-pair.
Sadly, X.509 certification and PGP (at least the freeware version) appear to be mutually exclusive.
DON'T ask me for essential computer assistance with the use of PGP, encryption or Public/Private
Key-pairs, though. If you don't understand this then it won't affect you and you probably don't need
to use it !
This page on Thawte's site has a
list of S/MIME plug-in manufacturers for various email
clients. As secure email is going to become much more widely used, I'd STRONGLY recommend you
either attempt to find a plug-in for your email client, or upgrade to one that supports S/MIME and
X.509 as soon as possible. This page on Microsoft's website discusses
how Outlook Express 5.0 implements digital signatures,
certificates and encryption in some detail for those interested, and here is the link for Thawte's
excellent and extremely comprehensive
Digital Cryptography FAQ.
I'm always interested in adding material to the galleries I have on the site, especially cartoons
and art. I am also actively involved with attempts to assemble a new comprehensive movie/TV CP
videoclips collection, along the lines of the old Dr. Ridding's Study website, so if you have any
unusual on-topic digital videoclips (NOT from adult porn videos) those would be very welcome too.
For reference, the galleries I have planned at the moment, for which I'd welcome submissions of
photos and art in particular, are: army discipline, scout discipline, discipline in lederhosen,
Japanese manga/anime CP/bondage art, vintage CP/bondage art and photography (US 1950s health and
AMG style stuff especially) and CP scenes near or in water (beach/pool/bathrooms) and vehicles of
all sorts. That should be enough to be going on with !
My site mailbox can cope with single emails up to 20Mb in size, so that should cope with most
likely submissions. You may find, however, that there is a limitation in your own mailing system
that would prevent sending me large files, especially if you use webmail. If so, here is the simple
By arrangement, if you have original art, photos or even magazines in paper format that you are
unable to scan yourself and are willing to loan me for this purpose, I will be happy to supply
you with a postal address to send it to me. I welcome all sorts of original material (returned),
or even files archived on
If you are able to digitally sign email you send to me, however, I'd request that you do so.
The only catch is that although X.509 is becoming the defacto standard for securing email, it is not
supported by every email client yet, especially if yours is a little older, and not by webmail at all.
Digital certificates are in effect attached to mail much like a picture or text or any other sort of
file, with a MIME type of S/MIME (S for Secure). If your mail client does not support this, you will
most likely see an attachment to any signed mail apparently called S/MIME .p7m - S/MIME
is the secure email protocol, and .p7 (or similar) is a digital signature file, telling you the
message has been signed. The best bit is that a compatible email client will be able to store that
certificate (say from me) and allow you to send me back encrypted mail (using my Public Key, which is
part of the certificate) if you so wish.
Yes please !
As long as it's not a virus . . . just use my email address
